The Mitsubishi Galant has been around since 1969. It was here, a compact car, and there, a mid-size one. It's been many body styles over the years, too: everything from a coupe and sedan to a hatchback and even a station wagon. If you're behind the wheel of one today, though, more than likely, it's from model year 1985 or later.
In 1992, for example, you could get one of six trims: base, LS, GS, GSR, GSX, or VR-4 trims. Several engines were available, too: a 102-horsepower, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, a 144-horsepower variant, and a turbocharged 195-horsepower model.
By 2007, however, a Ralliart trim would be added, and engine options would be three -- either a 160-horsepower, 2.4-liter inline-four, a 230-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6, or a 258-horsepower, 3.8-liter V6 MIVEC. A four-speed Sportronic automatic transmission would come standard, and features would range from alloy wheels and anti-lock brakes to heated-side mirrors, automatic headlights, wheel covers and more.
For the model's final year, 2012, ES and SE trims were offered, and both incorporated 2.4-liter I4 engines capable of 160 horsepower. Features included air conditioning, extendable sun visors, a DVD navigation system, Rockford-Fosgate audio, and remote ignition, among others.
